The ugliness of sin is clearly seen in understanding what it steals from us...

In Heaven, the Lord will forget our demerits and praise our merits; He will crown us with glory, place rings on our fingers, a crown upon our head, and robes of royalty and blessing on our shoulders. He will reveal His love for us by His own Personal gaze into our eyes – there will be no mediation, no filter, no hindrance, no obstacle, no obscurity, no confusion preventing His infinite love from reaching completely into our souls.

That divine love will transfigure and glorify us – our glorified bodies will be rich homes, adorned mansions, magnificent palaces, sacred temples filled to the fullest with the beauty and glory and truth and love of Almighty God, the Most Blessed Trinity.

This is why the Church ever reminds us of the evil of sin and the reality of Hell. Hearken to the truth: the ugliness of sin is clearly seen in understanding what it steals from us. Our Lord longs to impart these graces to all souls whom He has created. This is why He warns us against sin. This is why the Church warns us against sin. This is why we are called and commanded to fast and do penance – to turn our bodies and souls into instruments of goodness and grace.

Do not lose, by attachment to this world, the incomprehensibly wonderful blessings of the world to come. Let this last week of Lent be one that shows that you desire Heaven! Renounce, for the love of God, your earthly attachments. Set aside the lesser goods of this world that you may cling more intensely to the greatest good, which is God.
